DEADLINE EXTENDED! Calling all teacher leaders: Apply to serve as a community ambassador by Friday, April 5 at 5pm PT!

Help wanted sign

The American Institutes for Research (AIR) and CS for All Teachers are launching its third cohort of community ambassadors to lead engagement activities within the virtual community of practice. Over the past two years, we have witnessed firsthand the value of teacher leaders leading from within. We are excited to select a new group of teachers of computer science to take the community even farther.

Community ambassadors serve in a variety of roles within the community. They receive ongoing support and professional development from AIR support staff through monthly planning webinars and individualized planning calls to ensure they are prepared to take on leadership tasks, which may include:

  • Serving as a virtual facilitator for one of CS for All Teachers’ discussion groups,
  • Organizing and hosting webinars for community members,
  • Writing blog posts about CS education in PreK-12 classrooms,
  • Creating multimedia presentations,
  • Facilitating Twitter chats,
  • Promoting community activities through various social media channels, and
  • Providing feedback to the AIR team.

A stipend will be provided in exchange for the community ambassadors’ leadership with funding from the National Science Foundation. Ambassadors will be asked to participate in a face-to-face meeting from July 6-7 in advance of the CSTA conference in Phoenix, Arizona (travel to be covered by AIR/CS for All Teachers).

If you are interested in applying, please submit your information via this Google form no later than Friday, April 5 at 5 p.m. PT. (*Note the deadline has been extended through the end of the week.Applicants will be evaluated on the knowledge, skills, and leadership that they will bring to the role of community ambassador in service of CS for All Teachers. While past active involvement in the community is not required, it is critical that applicants demonstrate an understanding of the community’s mission and the engagement activities that it offers. We encourage applicants who represent a range of diverse perspectives from within CS.

Once the application period closes, AIR support staff will conduct a blind review of applicant materials. Semifinalists will be selected to go through a second round of performance task activities. Detailed directions will be provided at that time.
