COMPUTER SCIENCE (CS) AND YOU
What have you learned working with this community?
I knew very little about the world of education – especially computer science. I’ve learned SO much! It was surprising to learn that computer science can be taught with unplugged activities and that resources and curricula exist to teach students as young as pre-K.
What do you enjoy most about working on CS for All Teachers?
My fellow American Institutes for Research (AIR) staff on this project are the best! I also love working with our talented Community Ambassadors and the community at-large. It’s truly inspiring to see teachers' dedication, collaboration, and passion.
Write a poem or haiku describing what working with this community and fellow CS for All Teachers staff is like.
A joy to observe
TELL US MORE!
What is your first memory about CS?
My first memory is of playing Oregon Trail in first grade followed by taking a typing class in high school.
Outside of CS for All Teachers, what types of projects do you work on?
I manage a broad range of webinar productions across AIR, from logistical to technical aspects. I also work on audio/visual media editing and other multi-media product development.
What program or app can you absolutely not live without? What makes it so indispensable?
Practically, that would be Google calendar and/or Waze. If I’m not being so practical, you could turn me lose in the woods and I’d be happy without any apps off the grid for a while.
How do you unwind or recharge after a long day (week, month, etc.) of work? Any hobbies, special talents, or favorite vacation spots you'd like to share?
Hobbies: hiking, reading, cooking, teaching new commands to Lila (my multi-lingual, mixed-breed rescue pup who arrived knowing German).
Talent: fluent in Jamaican patois, belly dancing.
Vacation: anywhere that I can get in, or even just look at, water (ocean, lake, hot springs, etc.).
